Northville Creates Presented by Northville Art House, NDL, and Rise & Write Northville

Submissions accepted: Monday, January 5 – Friday, February 6
Jurying: February, Production: March, Publish: April

High school teens, and adults, are invited to submit original poetry, short stories, or artwork for a special community creative works booklet celebrating local author and artistic talent.

Works will be selected based on quality, originality, subject matter, and appropriateness. Submission does not guarantee inclusion. Contributors retain full rights but grant permission for publication in print and online. Artwork featuring recognizable people requires permission. Open to anyone in high school and older; Northville residency not required.

Everyone who submits will receive a follow-up notification. Thank you for being a part of this community project!

Guidelines:

Original work only; no AI, copyrighted, or previously published material
Written work: minimum 12 pt font, Times New Roman font
All work titles in CAPS
One submission per category per age group
Portrait orientation: Final dimensions of booklet will be 8.5" x 11" with margins a quarter of an inch, and a half an inch gutter (space where the booklet will be folded in half)
PG-13 appropriate content
Please use this naming convention when submitting your files; your first initial followed by your last name, then a period, with either poetry, short story, or artwork following it. Examples: JSmith.poetry.doc or JSmith.shortstory.pdf or JSmith.artwork.jpg.

Artist's Release

I grant the Northville District Library, Northville Art House, and Rise & Write Northville the right to freely reproduce, distribute, and publicly display, in whole or in part, any materials that I provide in connection with the Northville District Library, Northville Art House, and Rise & Write Northville. This includes the use of my name as provided below. The Northville District Library, Northville Art House, and Rise & Write Northville reserves the right to modify creative works resulting from my participation in the Northville Creates community booklet. I confirm that I have all required intellectual property rights needed to grant the Northville District Library, Northville Art House, and Rise & Write Northville the rights above, and that, before submitting any content to contribute to Northville Creates, I have obtained all permissions necessary for the Northville District Library, Northville Art House, and Rise & Write Northville to exercise such rights. The Northville District Library, Northville Art House, and Rise & Write Northville will not be responsible for any damages relating to this agreement.
