1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple. The rewards are priceless. Read a book to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to read 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten. Read more about 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten here.

Summer Reading

Monday, June 2 – Saturday, August 9, 2025 Summer Reading begins on Monday, June 2. Track your time spent reading on the free Beanstack app or pick up a paper log from the Information Desk. Finish your challenge to receive a prize and be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing! The last day to turn in your log and claim your prize is Saturday, August 9. Limit one challenge per participant. Youth will receive a free book, a token for our prize-filled gumball machine, and an entry into the Youth Grand Prize Drawing. The Summer Reading program is sponsored by the Friends of the Northville District Library.

Begins Monday, June 2 and continues indefinitely (Drop in) All ages. Help us grow our garden snake, William Snakespeare. Bring your own painted rock to the Library and add it to our snake as he slithers around by the outside stairs.

Saturday, June 7 from 10 AM – 12 PM Northville High School Parking Lot, Northville, MI, 48168 10 – 11 AM is Sensory Friendly Hour. 45700 Six Mile Rd, Northville, MI 48168 All ages. Stop by the Northville High School parking lot to explore all types of vehicles and to meet the people who help to build, protect, and serve our community. You’ll also be able to register for our Summer Reading Program.

Summer Reading Finale Party

Wednesday, August 6 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM At the Park next to the library. All ages.  Join us for an evening of inflatables, treats, and STEAM Art Stations presented by Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum. Drop In.
