A Better Catalog is Coming Soon

We’re excited to announce that NDL is launching a new and improved online catalog this summer.
After months of thoughtful planning, we’re making this change to give you a smoother, more personalized, and more powerful library experience.

We understand that transitions can be a little bumpy—and yes, some services will be temporarily disrupted—
but we’re here to help every step of the way. We’re confident the new online catalog will be worth the wait!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s changing?
We’re upgrading to a faster, easier, and more customized catalog with new features to personalize and simplify your library experience.

Do I need a new library card?
No, your current card and PIN will still work. You can change your PIN in your account anytime, too.

Can I still borrow from other libraries?
Yes! Just bring your NDL card and ID to each neighboring library you visit, including Novi. You may need to renew your card at each library annually.

Can I still place holds at other libraries?
Some neighboring libraries allow it if you register your card with them. Please note: NDL can’t be selected as a pickup location for those holds.

Michigan eLibrary (MeLCat)What if NDL doesn’t have what I need?
We’ve got you! You can still borrow from libraries through MeLCat, Michigan’s statewide interlibrary loan system. Ask a librarian - we’re happy to help!

What is MeLCat?
MeLCat lets you borrow from libraries across Michigan, including college, regional, and public libraries. It’s a great way to access even more titles than we can store here at NDL! Visit mel.org to begin.

Can I still use my library card from a neighboring library at NDL?
Yes! Bring your library card and photo ID.

Will the new catalog still show items from other libraries?
Please visit MeLCat to view items from other libraries.
