NORTHVILLE DISTRICT LIBRARY REOPENING PLAN

The Governor has lifted the Stay Home order and has issued Executive Order No. 2020-110, which allows libraries to reopen to the public. Our plan is to reopen in phases, ensuring that our protocols and procedures adhere to health and safety recommendations for both the public and our staff. Thank you for your continued patience!

WE ARE NOW AT LEVEL 3: GRAB & GO NDL. VISIT 30 MINUTES OR LESS.

Level 1: Virtual NDL (Level 1 ended June 15)
  • Public Access:  Our building remains closed to the public.
  • Library Services:  All services are virtual. Find them at northvillelibrary.org. Email us at  nortref@northvillelibrary.org with any questions.
  • Programs:  All programs are virtual through August. Find them on our Events Calendar.
  • Library Cards:  Questions about PINs or library cards, contact us via email:  nortref@northvillelibrary.orgYou can apply for a temporary library card online IF you don’t already have a card.
  • Returns:  We are not accepting returns at this time. No fines will be charged. Watch our website for date returns will be accepted.
  • Tech Assistance: Email our TechExpert at smilroy@northvillelibrary.org or call 248.349.3020, ext. 213.
  • Meeting Rooms:  Our rooms remain closed through August. Watch our website for information on when room reservations will begin.
Level 2: Curbside NDL (Ended July 2. Monday – Friday 10 am – 5 pm)
  • Public Access:   Our building remains closed to the public.
  • Curbside Pickup Service:  Reserve items by phone or online and pick up your items via contactless pickup service during your scheduled pickup time.
  • Phone Service:  Librarians will be available 10:00 am – 5 pm to take your hold requests and provide Readers’ Advisory.
  • Library Services:  All services are virtual. Find them at northvillelibrary.org. Email us at  nortref@northvillelibrary.org with any questions.
  • Programs:  All programs are virtual through August. Find them on our Events Calendar.
  • Library Cards:  Questions about PINs or library cards, contact us via email:  nortref@northvillelibrary.org.  You can apply for a temporary library card online IF you don’t already have a card.
  • Returns: We are gradually accepting returns beginning June 15, Mon> – Fri 10 am – 5 pm. Place items in the drop box OR large Return Bins. If the box is locked, or the bins not available, we cannot accept any more returns on that day, please try again the next day. All items will be quarantined for 72 hours before being removed from your record.

Level 3: Grab & Go NDL. Visit 30 Minutes or Less. No Public Seating Available
(Mon & Wed: 10 am - 7 pm, Tues, Thurs, Fri, & Sat: 10 am - 5 pm)
  • Public Access:  Building is open for GRAB & GO ONLY -  FOR 30 MINUTES OR LESS.  ALL PUBLIC SEATING IS REMOVED. Masks are required (based on Executive Order) and MUST be worn over the nose AND mouth. Maximum of 40 patrons at one time.
  • Public Computers:  Three public computers will be available to NORTHVILLE PATRONS ONLY by reservation at 248.212.5278
  • Curbside Pickup Service Continues: You must schedule your own pickup. Once you receive notice by email or text that your hold is available, call or text 248.396.0419 to arrange for a pickup. 
  • Holds: Librarians will be available to take your hold requests.
  • Programs:  All programs are virtual through August. Find them on our Events Calendar.
  • Returns: We are accepting returns Mon & Wed: 10 am – 7 pm, Tues, Thurs, Fri, & Sat: 10 am – 5 pm. Place items in the drop box OR large Return Bins.   • Book Cellar: The used Book Cellar is CLOSED until further notice.
  • MelCat borrowing begins August 10. Patrons can request holds on items in the MelCat statewide catalog.
Level 4: Six-Foot NDL (Date to be determined. Monday & Wednesday 10 am - 9 pm; Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday 10 am - 5 pm)
  • Public Access:  Masks are required (based on Executive Order). The building is open with possible limits on the number of people in the building.
  • Curbside Pickup Service:  You must schedule your own pickup. Once you receive notice by email or text that your hold is available, call 248.396.0419 to arrange for a pickup. 
  • Library Services:  All services are virtual. Find them at northvillelibrary.org. Email us at  nortref@northvillelibrary.org with any questions.
  • Programs:   All programs are virtual through August. Find them on our Events Calendar.
  • Returns:  Returns will be accepted during hours above.
  • Tech Assistance: One-on-one technology help available with social distancing.
